Federal Direct Loans
The Pell Grant is a federal need-based grant funded by the Department of Education that does not need to be repaid. The FAFSA determines a student’s financial need, and therefore, what amount, if any, of the Pell Grant a student is eligible for.
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) is a federal need-based grant funded by the Department of Education that does not need to be repaid. It is available to students who are Pell Grant recipients and have exceptional financial need as determined by the FAFSA.
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federal need-based student employment program funded by the Department of Education in which students earn funds. The FAFSA determines a student’s financial need, and therefore, a student's eligibility.

California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant (DSIG)
The California College Promise Grant (CCPG, formerly know as BOGW) is a state fee waiver program designed to provide education assistance to eligible California residents and AB 540/AB 2000/SB 68 eligible students attending a California Community College.Ìý
The Cal Grant is a state need-based grant funded through the California °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Aid Commission (CSAC) that does not need to be repaid. It is for students pursuing an undergraduate degree or vocational/career training. The FAFSA or CA Dream Act and a GPA Verification determine a student’s eligibility.
The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Success Completion Grant (SSCG) is a state need-based grant funded through the California °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Aid Commission (CSAC) that does not need to be repaid. It is available to community college Cal Grant B or C recipients who are enrolled full-time in 12 or more units per semester.Ìý
The Chafee Grant is a state program funded through the California °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø Aid Commission (CSAC) that does not need to be repaid. It is for current or former California Foster YouthÌýpursuing an undergraduate degree or vocational/career training.
California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant (DSIG) is a grant for CA Dream Act student who are eligible for Cal Grant B. DSIG awards up to $4,500 per academic year. °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹ÙÍø will need to complete 150 hours of volunteer work per semester (Fall & Spring) to receive a grant of $2,250 per semester. The volunteer hours can be completed at CCSF or any approved .
To be eligible for DSIG students must:
- Complete and submit California Dream Act Application (CADAA) for this academic year.
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress and complete any necessary verification for their Cal Grant B award.
- Be an active recipient of a Cal Grant B Award.
- Demonstrate enough financial need (determined by CSAC or the institution).
- Enrolled at CCSF in least half-time (6 units).
- Complete and submit DSIG application.
